Bereavement Support

At some point in our lives, we will all be touched by the loss of someone we love. The feelings of grief that result from this experience are intense and can profoundly affect the way we live.

In keeping with Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County's commitment to serving our community, we offer a broad range of bereavement services to help adults and children understand and cope with grief. Our experienced counselors, chaplains, social workers and volunteers reach out to support surviving family members with compassion and reassurance.

For the families of those in HPCIC's hospice care program, grief counseling services are offered for a full year after the death of a loved one. In addition, ongoing grief and loss support groups are offered at no cost to anyone in the community, regardless of whether they have used HPCIC's services.

Recognizing that children react very differently to grief than adults, HPCIC's Rainbow Kidz program provides one-on-one counseling and/or school support groups, Camp Rainbow and other activities tailored to their special needs. These services are available to any child or adolescent who has experienced the death of a friend or loved one. Our knowledgeable counselors can also offer guidance for parents, teachers and other mentors on how to respond to the needs of grieving children.

Another community service that Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County offers is our speakers bureau. Educational programs and workshops on grief, death and dying and other topics are available upon request at no cost to churches, schools, civic groups and other organizations.

If you would like to learn more about our bereavement support services or to schedule a presentation for your organization, Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County's bereavement coordinator Randy Berryhill welcomes your call. You can reach Randy at 704-873-4719, ext. 4353.
